WATER. How we take it for granted. I was appalled yesterday to hear that a small town in Mississippi has been without fresh drinking water for six years!!! How can this happen in this day and age?
What was even more sickening was hearing on the same news program (ABC News) that Madoff was being sent to a "comfy" prison where he would have just about anything he wanted in a short time. How would he like to have to drive for miles to bring back fresh water to drink or bath in? And what about Goldman Sachs reporting such high profits on money we loaned them? I bet some of that same money came from the taxes people paid from that same little Mississippi town.
It is 6:00 a.m. here. I just got up to get a drink of water. After sipping it, I couldn't go back to sleep. This story has touched me so deeply. I am on a fixed income and have less than $100 in my bank account, but if I knew how I could use it to help these residents, I would. I prayed and asked God how could I help? My answer came. It was to write. Maybe my few words will get to someone, anyone from the Fortune 500 list of wealthiest people and one of them will find it in their hearts ( or should I say wallet) to help this small town.
I, myself ill never be able to drik a glass of cool water or take a shower without wondering if they got the help they need. Someone, anyone out there, please help. ABC, please help. God help us all.
