Why did Jake Tapper give free add time to Newt Gingrich today (JAN292012)?
Jake never challenged any of Newt Gingrich's claims.
For example, Newt tried to take credit for being both a Reaganite and someone who 'could work with' Bill Clinton.
This also begs the question of what Newt thinks was so great about repealing Glass-Steigal, subsiding the taliban to fight the Russians in Afghanistan, and passing the media deregulation bill that helped create the ridiculous state of affairs we have today with our so-called 'media'.
Newt took credit for balanced budgets, but the fact is that the spending under Newt as not much smaller than before Newt.
Newt suggested that he was proud of his welfare reform bill, but this then this begs the question as to what Newt now wants to do, and I imagine he thinks the current welfare policies are horrible.
Newt says we should lower taxes, yet taxes are already lower than they have been for 30 years.
And there was something ridiculous about the whole ethics fine that is not a fine. Your telling me if you were innocent of a crime, you would agree to pay $300,000 to a congressional investigative body because your accountant got some information mixed up? Obviously a deal was made - Newt would pay the fine, step down as speaker and later resign.
