For many years, I've long questioned humanity and our support of "race". We believe it is a way of life and is the "gospel of truth". It sickens me to see people living their lives according to color and categories. Aren't you sick of it, too? I have been waiting patiently for the mainstream media to address this issue head on. Why aren't we discussing the fact that race is a concept? Why aren't we challenging ourselves to open our minds and learn about its true origins? Racial classification only started about 600 years ago. What we know of today is the result of its founding. Race, like politics and other things we've created over the centuries, serves only one purporse: To divide and conquer. We are comfortable in our "whiteness" and "blackness" -- comfortable because we enjoy the "social benefits" of belonging to a group. The concept of race reminds me of most country clubs -- an excuse to be "exclusive". Sorry, but there isn't any exclusivity in humanity. There are no special passes for superiority. If Martin Luther King were alive today, I believe he'd be preaching about an end to racial classification. Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton are not the solution to bridging poor race relations in America or the world. They are hindering the process. We are not being bold enough, America. We are not challenging ourselves, because we are afraid, or simply do not care. Well, I do. Most people believe my views are unrealistic and unobtainable. I believe otherwise. Through effective campaigns and community outreach initiatives, I strongly feel we can make an impact on changing the way we see the world. It will be a long journey, and something which will NOT occur in my lifetime, but at least we can ensure a brighter future for generations that will follow. Race is a fallacy, folks. It's not real.
