The list is long. The charges wide & varied. "Honorable"  William Jefferson's trial starts on Monday 2/25/08.

None of the major players in national news have yet done a public briefing on the whole story of this man.

His indictment - http://msnbcmedia.msn.com/i/msnbc/sections/news/070604_Jefferson_Indictment.pdf

He is the first sitting congressman to face charges under the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act.

He was re-elected after this indictment (this alone should make for a huge news event). If convicted on all counts, Jefferson could face more than 200 years in prison.

House Democratic leader Nancy Pelosi, D-CA, asked Congressman William J. Jefferson, D-LA, to immediately resign from the Ways and Means Committee after the indictment.  Jefferson promptly declined . So... House Democrats voted Rep. Jefferson off the committee by a vote of 99 - 58.  Who voted which way would be an interesting tidbit.

He is also STILL a Superdelegate - Here's another spin for the news. Who gets his vote & who would want it with his trial starting on the 25th?

I think this would make a major story but the media is corrupt to the point where they won't touch it in case they inadvertently harm someone running in the presidential race. Mr. Jefferson apparently has a long reach. Primetime could do this one up right!
