Regarding the BP oil spill, what about the Jones Act of 1920? I read that there are foreign owned boats in the Gulf area equipped and ready to help collect the oil BEFORE it reaches our shores, but the Jones Act prohibits foreign owned boats/ships from doing this in U.S. waters. If President Obama wanted to take action to reduce the damage to our shores, he would waive the Jones Act in this time of emergency. This would be more effective than just talking about possibilities for the future. Google the Jones Act.
