Yesterday, Feb., 5, 2009, I had a colonoscopy done. Two areas were found and sent for biopsy. Now I am scared. one of the areas was a polyp, on a stem like a mushroom. The other was right beside it, and was a flat area. The polyp was removed, and both areas were cauterized.
I am to call the Dr.'s office in 5 to 7 days for the results. I am not too worried about the polyp, but am very worried about the flat spot. The Dr. talked to me after the procedure, and described what he found and what his feelings were, saying they are probably alright, but it is a possibility results would come back with cancer cells. I was kinda foggy from the sedative, and didnt ask many questions, after thinking about it, not sleeping well, I have lots of questions, and really worried about this. He said that if cancer cells are found on biopsy, then I would need a followup colonoscopy in 2 years. Does this sound right? Thas is two years for something to start growing again. Im thinking they should just go in and remove that section of my colon totally. I watched my father die of colon cancer, and it was not good. I don't know at this point what stage these would be classified. What questions should I ask the dr. when I find out results? Thank you for any info. I want to have a list of questions to ask him, and want to ask the right questions and get the right info. I am cruising the internet trying to find information. Guess I won't feel better until hearing from the Dr., and take it from there. Thanks again for any info.
