Our 14 year old son was diagnosed with OCD when he was 5, then later with Sensory Integration Disorder and Aspergers syndrome. We have learned a lot about Aspergers and OCD, and for several years we have sought a professional in our area who could provide CBT to someone our son's age. Currently he sees a Dr. who treats his OCD with 200 mg of Luvox, but no other therapy. Our son also takes .2 mg of Clonodine to help him get to sleep, something which has always been a problem for him. The Luvox helps with his OCD, but he still has times when he is besieged with intrusive thoughts and obsessions. He also has trouble focusing, but any stimulants he has taken seem to aggravate his OCD anxieties. We think he could be helped a great deal more if we could find someone who would work on his OCD using CBT and exposure/response therapy, but we've been unable to find someone who does this in southeastern Virginia. Do you think CBT and exposure/response would be beneficial, and if so, how do we find someone who does this?
