I was recently diagnosed after a trip to the ER.  I had every symptom of ketoacidosis for several months prior but my doctor never checked for diabetes so I finally went to the hospital when I was experiencing chest pain and tightness.  I have been feeling this again for the last week but have no other symptoms of ketoacidosis.  Is there any way that I or my doctor can check me for ketoacidosis before resorting to the ER?
