My daughter has been diagnosed as bipolar and also manic depressive, which I think is a diagnosis not used anymore.  She has not been on her meds for a long time.  She has been on other street drugs.  She started with crank and had a real problem with that for a long time.  That ruined her teeth.  She no longer does the crank, thank God, I thought it would kill her.  Now she has a problem with prescription meds.  She does adderalls, percocets, lortabs, methodone, really anything she can get her hands on.  I think she is only doing it because of the depression and because she is not on her meds.  If she does no meds she sleeps 24 hours a day.  She always had a problem sleeping all the time.  Hypothyroidism runs heavily in our family, as far back as you can go.  She has all the symptoms,  The hair growth, the lethergy, the eyes, the weight gain, the dry skin, the depression, every symptom I have, but her blood work is border line and they refuse to give her the medication.  I think all the other prescription meds she is doing may play a part with her hormonal system too. Her blood sugar now drops drastically, without warning.  Her whole body seems to be fighting her drug abuse.  I tell her this. But she hates sleeping all the time when she does not take the pills.  And when she takes the meds for bipolar, she is tired all the time.  She has two kids to take care of, and she tells me when she takes the pills, she can clean the house, cook dinner, help them with their homework, and be the mom she should be.  Without the pills she just sleeps all the time.  How can I fight that logic?? She wants to be a normal person. The only way she knows to do that is with pills. I have had her blood tested and they find nothing. But she has no insurance and nobody wants to help her.  But I am afraid that this drug abuse is going to kill her.  I really need so help and dont know where to turn.  We live in a very poor State where you cant get any help with drug abuse. The doctors want to write you the prescriptions for the pills, the State will even pay for them,  but then they will not help you get off of them when they have made you an addict.  Such a shame.  Thank you for listening.
