I am 56 years old and received a degree as a legal assistant (paralegal).  The last job I had lasted two and a half months.  I was a stay at home mom for twenty years.  I have the experience but it seems as though the far and view jobs that are available are flooded with young people.  I have applied to Walmart, department stores, attorney's offices, secretarial positions, clerical positions.    As of this date I am on food stamps, my husband had cancer last year, when he returned to work ten months later he was layed off from his job.  We have no credit card debt, no savings account but we do have a house payment of which we are behind on our payments at this time, and the utility bills.  I have lived in my house for 30 years.  Does a person's credit affect their ability to get a job?  I plan on working the reset of my life.
