Mrs Tory I was trying to speak with Mr. John Stossel. I recently pulled all three of my children out of the public school system. One child in November of 2006 and my two teenagers in Deceber or 2006. Because I chose to take my children out, Dss is trying to say I'm educationally neglecting them. But my children were having problems being in that type of enviroment.  Just to give some example of why I did what I did. My youngest daughter stephanie had failed the sixth grade of 2005, by the time 2006 term started by the second reportcard Stephanie dropped from a 52 in science to a 38 and I was showing her since our teachers confrence told me that showing her so I maybe could see what the problem was. My daughter just couldn't keep up with the class, and also because to my social activity between changing classes. That seemed to be where all the he say she say mess went on at. My 17 year old son was acting like a class clown being disruptive throwing spit balls while in the class room. Also by the time I pulled my 17 year old out ; not only had he had a 10th grade bill of 180.00 dollars for losing books, but had already lost his books for the 11th grade year, and I had to pay 280.00 dollars and the school year had just started in september. Then if that wasn't enough my middlle daugter michelle started skipping class, even though it was one incident on her disciplinary report, she had just got to the ninth grade and also started in september. I was so tired after running up to the school I finally told them all one more thing in school I'm pulling all of you guys out. Well needless to say my son was furious about my decision, and started communicating with coach on line from school. Needless to say again he told the coach I had no educational cirriculum for them, and he inturned called dss. Now I explained to carl that I was trying to find another route because I didn't like the public school system here. So I went and bought a homeschooling almanac which explains what you have to do to home school in the state of s.c. The last suggestion in the book stated that you can form and accountability group but you have to have 50 people to join. Then I started running into people that needed help with their children because these children were beginning to fail in the third grade, major subjects like english or math and I was appaulled at what they were telling me. So I gave them some websites that are free that they could go on to that would help their child. I now learned of a wesbsite called connections academy that the tuition is free, but its not offered in the state of s.c. You've got to see this for yourself it's one the best sites i've come across because its free. It also gives you cirriculums for each grade level. Education should be free at this point , because to much is going on in our school systems that should not be happening. This is a safer way, they should instute this even for colledge, and just may we can stop some of the killings in schools and colledges today. I've had to hire an attorney to get out of this mess with DSS. I 'm still saying to any parent that's out there reading this the public school system is not conducsive to learning anymore and if you put your children in it , you can't possibly love them.
