The Valley of Elah is a military bashing film that is promoting itself as a "mystery" - hack storytelling carried over from all of those "burnt out Viet vets" - but the trailers - American flags, families saying grace, suggestions that it is really a murder/suspense film and a title taken from the Bible - do they really think Middle America is going to fall for this? Look - we know what you think of us in "flyover" country, we know you loathe the military, we know you think you're the smartest guys in the room but we don't get several million for one job, we work hard for the ten bucks that we pay for a movie - so Jones, Sarandon, Theron - and Penn, Cusack and the lot - thanks but no thanks - I'll rent "The Searchers".
